The cheaper iPad has received changes that had previously switched to the Pro, Air and mini versions.
Apple originally planned to organize a full presentation of the new iPads, but on the final straight the company would have to change its mind and limit the premiere to sending out press releases.
iPad (10th gen.) introduces the long-awaited changes. USB-C port included
The iPad is the latest model in the wallet that makes major design changes.
First of all, the screen has gone from 10.2 to 10.9 inches and the surrounding bezels have decreased, which makes the tablet more modern. The fingerprint reader has been moved to the edge of the housing and the selfie camera has been moved to a longer bezel to work better in landscape mode.
Second: The new iPad has the long-awaited USB-C port, which replaces the elongated Lightning connector.
Technically, the new tablet is an iPad Air without the ultra-efficient M1 chip.
Apple has armed its cheapest model with the A14 Bionic chip known from the iPhone 12, a new 12 Mpix camera with 4K recording, a front camera with ultra wide angle lens, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and an optional 5G modem. The 10.9-inch screen has a resolution of 2360 x 1640 (264 ppi).
The color versions available are blue, yellow, pink and silver. iPad is compatible with Apple Pencil and the new Magic Keyboard Folio with trackpad.
The new iPad Pro has an M2 chip and improved stylus support
The M1 chip replaces the previous generation to provide a great power boost. Apple estimates that thanks to this, the new iPad Pro has 15 percent. Faster CPU, 35 percent faster graphics, and 50 percent faster. Faster RAM. Data download will also be faster thanks to Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
The increased efficiency was to allow the introduction of the possibility of recording videos in the ProRes format and the triple acceleration of their transcoding.
The latest iPad Pro will work even better with the Apple Pencil. The tablet detects it from a distance of 12 mm, so you can see in advance the trace that the stylus will leave. This feature must be used in various places on the interface, as well as in third-party applications.
Like the previous generation, the iPad Pro is available in 11 and 12.9-inch versions. Only the larger model, however, has a mini-LED matrix, while the “eleven” are left with the LCD.
Apple stresses that the latest generation of iPad Pro will make the most of the potential of iPadOS 16.
