I.F. chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov presented to the prosecutors from the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office (SRP) Svetlana Mitova from the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, who was elected acting administrative head of the SRP by a decision of the High Prosecutorial Council dated 15.02.2024. This is reported by the prosecutor’s office.
“A new beginning is needed. I am convinced that in the District Prosecutor’s Office in Sofia there is a huge number of worthy magistrates, each of whom is able to perform their duties impeccably. The society will not tolerate the previous practices that have been going on here,” said the chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov. He emphasized that Svetlana Mitova has all the necessary professional and moral qualities to cope with the difficult task of restoring trust in the SRP.
Svetlana Mitova stated before the prosecutors from the SRP that her priority is to “build a lean and well-functioning prosecutor’s office, which works with self-confidence and trust in society.” Prosecutor Mitova expects the prosecutors in the SRP to be guided by the principles of integrity, honesty and professionalism, and with their work, all of them together will put the largest prosecutor’s office in the country back on its feet. “It has bad objective indicators because it is the prosecutor’s office with the lowest number of indictments per person in the entire system of district prosecutor’s offices. Let’s give faith to society that there is justice in Bulgaria,” said Svetlana Mitova.
I.F. administrative head of SRP prosecutor Svetlana Mitova has over 26 years of legal experience and has gone through the entire hierarchy in the prosecutor’s office – from junior prosecutor, through prosecutor in the RP, administrative head of the RP, prosecutor in the district and appellate prosecutor’s offices. Since 2020, Svetlana Mitova has been a prosecutor in the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor’s Office, she has been awarded for high professionalism and exemplary performance of official duties.
