Here is the list: This disappears in Windows 11

After the unveiling of Windows 11, we have learned a lot about what is coming, what we get and what is required; new elements in the user interface, new store that supports Android apps, detailed minimum requirements for hardware etc.

The taskbar is locked

Microsoft has also shared information about the features that will disappear when you upgrade. This time the list is longer than usual with new versions of the Windows operating system.

Some of the features that disappear are obvious additions, such as app folders in the start menu. The ability to sync wallpapers across devices is also gone.

The taskbar in Windows 11 will be locked at the bottom of the screen. Older versions allowed users to move the taskbar to the top or pages.

It’s uncertain how Microsoft intends to upgrade to Windows 11 for those running the locked version of Windows 10 Home, S mode.

Here is the list of outdated features:

  • Cortana will no longer be included in the first boot or attached to the taskbar.
  • The desktop background cannot be roamed to or from the device when you are signed in with a Microsoft account.
  • Internet Explorer is disabled. Microsoft Edge is the recommended replacement including IE mode.
  • Math Input Panel removed. Math Recognizer is installed on request. Math colors in apps like OneNote are not affected by the change.
  • News and interests have changed. New functionality has been added and you have to click on the widgets icon on the taskbar.
  • Quick status from the lock screen and associated settings are removed.
  • S mode only available in Windows 11 Home.
  • The Snipping Tool will still be available, but the design and functionality will be like Snip & Sketch.

Start is significantly changed:

  • Named groups and folders with apps are no longer supported and the layout cannot be changed.
  • Fixed apps and websites do not migrate when you upgrade from Windows 10.
  • App Tiles (Live Tiles) will be replaced by the new widgets feature.
  • Tablet mode is removed and new keyboard functionality is added.

The taskbar changes:

  • People will not be found on the taskbar.
  • Some icons will no longer appear in the system tray (systray).
  • The bottom of the screen is the only position allowed.
  • Apps can no longer be customized to areas of the taskbar.
  • The timeline is removed. Similar functionality is available in Microsoft Edge.
  • The Touch Keyboard will no longer be anchored on screens that are 18 inches and larger.
  • Wallet removed.

Four apps need to be removed:

  • 3D Viewer
  • OneNote
  • Paint 3D
  • Skype (removed for Teams)
There may be changes in the lists until the official launch of Windows 11.
