here is the federal government’s plan to face the second wave of coronavirus in Belgium

In recent days, in view of the new spread of Covid-19 in our country, the federal government has set up a plan to face the return of the virus to Belgium and above all to avoid repeating the mistakes made during the first wave.

The federal authorities, at the initiative of Minister De Block’s office, therefore drafted this strategic plan that we were able to obtain. It is the result of a contribution from many experts including those of Sciensano, the FPS Public Health but also the Federal Medicines Agency and even the INAMI. It’s an 83-page document.

The goal

The federal government wants to prevent a second wave of COVID-19 contamination, contain it where necessary and, if that is not possible, intercept and manage it.

This plan also details the long-term ambitions, the development of the immunity of a population through generalized vaccination. Concretely, the authorities will pay attention to the management of annual influenza and prepare the policy for the purchase and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is still unavailable at present.

Tactics

The tactic consists of two lines of defense:

This plan also provides for a budget, in total, the estimated budgetary impact of this plan amounts to € 35,020,684 in 2020, € 45,522,374 in 2021 and € 42,663,966 on a structural basis.

The document is a roadmap, many of which are already being implemented. Also with the intention of simplifying the current governance.
