ZTE has just released an official render of the Axon 20 5G, the first smartphone equipped with an under-screen selfie sensor. The image gives us a preview of the smartphone from the front and back. It is distinguished by a total absence of visible camera on the front face: no perforation in the screen, no notch and it does without a retractable module.

After the fingerprint sensors, the cameras invite themselves under the screen of smartphones. Many manufacturers are working on this technology, one of the next big innovations in the industry. And as often, the first business model does not come from a mainstream brand. In 2018, Vivo was already the first manufacturer to offer a fingerprint reader under the screen of a smartphone. In 2020, another Chinese brand that is not very popular in our regions is stealing the show from the leading players in the market.
Huawei could launch a smartphone with a selfie sensor under the screen in 2021, but the first smartphone to benefit from the technology is signed ZTE. The manufacturer has already confirmed a conference for September 1. This will be the opportunity to discover the ZTE Axon 20 5G since that’s how it is called. Once is not customary, we will not need the services of leakers to discover what the smartphone looks like.
ZTE unveils full render of Axon 20 5G
The rendering was shared by Ni Fei, the president of the ZTE mobile division on the Chinese social network Weibo with less than two weeks of the presentation of the smartphone. As you can see in the image at the beginning of the article, it has no perforation in the screen, or notch on the front face. This is not the first time that a smartphone has presented this particularity. The most interesting thing here is that the front camera is integrated in the panel and not in a retractable module housed in the upper edge.
In the image, the smartphone screen is off. Impossible to get an idea of the size of the borders, but the rendering allows us to discover the back of the smartphone which seems to be coated with a textured glass shell with edges slightly curved upwards. We also see 4 photo sensors whose configuration remains to be specified. For the rest, the ZTE Axon 20 5G should be equipped with a 6.92 ″ Full HD + OLED screen, a Snapdragon 765G SoC supported by up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage depending on the leaks. The battery would have a capacity of 4120 mAh.
