As a owner of two LG 29 ” screens myself, one of which is curved, the curve isn’t just a whim, it’s a must-have on an ultra-wide screen or the ends are too far out of sight. The wider it is, the more pronounced the curve must be to ensure eye comfort.
Here is a computer monitor that combines (almost) all the characteristics of the perfect video game screen, theOdyssey Neo G9 from Samsung.
This futuristic looking screen has the latest Mini-LED technology which is in itself a small revolution in the world of large panels. Not to be confused with MicroLED technology, Mini-LED (or Mini-LED) displays are panels backlit by smaller LED diodes to which are added support for a thousand local dimming zones that allow for get deeper blacks and a higher contrast ratio.

Extra tall and wide at 49 ” diagonally, its 32: 9 cinematic ratio delivers vertical Quad Definition (DQHD) of 5120 x 1440.
For speed, the refresh rate – very important for gaming – reaches 240Hz, and gray-to-gray response times are only a millisecond (1ms).
On the back of the screen, the connectors bring together the most recent HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 variable refresh rate (VRR) video interfaces in addition to being compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro interfaces.

Light show on the back
There are also two USB ports and an audio output for headphones. However, the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C interface is absent. Another thing to check, the American sites indicate the presence of two HDMI 2.1 ports, while Samsung Canada sees only one.
Samsung wants to impress, so much so that the white outer shell of the display incorporates on the back a lighting system capable of producing 52 colors and five light effect options. A personalized look that will undoubtedly appeal to many players.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this screen take the place of two or three monitors on some desks.
On the Samsung Canada site, Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G9 display with Quantum Mini-LED is said to be “available for pre-order now before its official launch in Canada later this year.” But for now, we do not know its Canadian price or the stores that will sell it. Searching American sites, it sells for $ 2,500, the equivalent of $ 3,125 of our dollars.
