Here comes the iPhone 13. It will blur the background while shooting a video and charge another device

The latest leaks about the iPhone 13 speak of two features that we already know from somewhere. iPhones will gain filming with a blurred background, and they will learn to wirelessly charge other devices.

Let’s start with charging, because there is another leak claiming that a lot will change in the iPhone 13. Don’t worry, you will still be able to connect a standard cable to the iPhone, but we will see new products in wireless charging.

Max Weinbach provided new information about the components used to build the iPhone 13. The new smartphone will have larger coils for inductive charging, which will have several benefits. First of all, the charging power and therefore its speed will increase. Currently, iPhones can be charged wirelessly with power up to 15 W, which is slow charging by today’s standards.

A larger inductor will also provide better heat dissipation, and a lot of heat is released with inductive charging. A larger surface also means a larger active charging field, so it will be easier to find the charger without MagSafe directing the iPhone to the perfect position.

Larger indicative charging field in iPhone 13 it can also be used to charge other devices.

The rumor returns that the iPhone 13 will be able to charge other devices using reverse wireless charging. We have known such a mechanism for several years from Android smartphones and it is a convenient solution that I personally rarely use, but it helped me in difficult situations several times.

On the smartphone, we can put other equipment compatible with wireless energy transmission, such as headphones or even … a second smartphone. The underlying device will share its own energy. Thanks to this solution, we can, for example, minimize the number of chargers needed for a trip. At night, we can connect the iPhone to the power supply by wire, put on the smartphone, for example AirPodsy, and in the morning both devices will be charged.

Remember, however, that similar rumors were circulating before the premiere of the latest iPad Pro. Apple was supposed to work on using the appropriate coil in iPads, but the final devices do not have it. Something tells me that the next time the culprit is the global popandemic situation related to the lack of components.

Another novelty in the iPhone 13 will be filming with a blurred background in portrait mode.

The background blurring mode is to hit the iPhone 13 also in video mode, which is also not new on the market scale, because we already know such solutions, for example, from Huaweia smartphones. So far, portrait modes have been doing much worse in video than in photos. When taking a photo, we have one frame, which the algorithm can refine because it has time for it. We have 30 or 60 fps in the movie, and each of them must have a reliably blurred background. Applying this effect in flight is much more challenging. We will see how Apple handles it.
