LECCE – In a world to which we were all used to traveling quickly, communicating and interacting socially, we were forcibly forced into social isolation and restrictions that increased our feelings of frustration and uncertainty. This happened because individuals were totally emotionally unprepared to deal with this biological disaster.

In recent cross-sectional studies in the different continents it was found that the psychological symptoms with emotional disorders have increased in a preponderant way, in particular: depression, stress, alternating mood, irritability, insomnia, post-traumatic stress symptoms, anger and nervous exhaustion. . Furthermore, it has been noted that many psychic dysfunctions are consequential to a long period of isolation and that the citizen’s mental health is so strongly tested that it will be so difficult to return to a mental health situation in a short time.

The person can begin to self-diagnose the first symptoms of a no longer mental and physical balance if he often feels pervaded by anxiety, frustration and a sense of loneliness, often accompanied by an irrational fear of disease and sickness. Anxiety can be recognized by a sense of continuous fatigue with a reduction in performance, with alternating feelings of anger and loneliness. Social isolation then in particular leads to a pervasive sense of loneliness and depressed mood that often lead to actions such as suicide with the interruption of various activities that involved the individual in all respects in social life.

Furthermore, it has been found from these studies that in order to help and support the entire community, inadequate, poor or confused information should be eliminated because it would increase stress factors, confusion and unsafe targets and inappropriate guidelines, contradictory messages, do nothing but increase the feeling of fear, creating real psychological breakdowns. That is why today it is very important to recognize one of these symptoms in order to promptly request help and turn to professionals and social supports. Increasing one’s resilience, rebalancing one’s mental health is essential to be able to pass, face and overcome this so dramatic historical-social moment.
