From very early on, millions of people, including residents of our region, have gone to the polls to exercise their right to vote and choose the next president between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris.
At the local level, residents have also come out to vote for federal, state and local offices. New York voters are casting ballots for the state’s 26 congressional districts as well as one of New Jersey’s two Senate seats in a race between Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand and Republican Mike Sapraicone.
In New Jersey, residents came out to vote for the state’s 12 congressional districts and one of the two Senate seats. between Democrat Andy Kim and Republican Curtis Bashaw, who entered the race after former Senator Bob Menéndez resigned after being indicted for federal corruption.
Polls close in New York and New Jersey at 9:00 PM and in Connecticut at 8:00 PM.
The day in the tri-state area was calm and some polling places in Queens experienced minor problemsbut the Electoral Board cleared them.
