Here are the results of office winners in NY and NJ – Telemundo New York (47)

Donald Trump became the president-elect this Wednesday after a long and historic election day and a landslide victory over Kamala Harris, according to NBC News projection. And in our area, several winners in Congressional positions were also announced.

Elected politicians in the New York and New Jersey area

THE Y NJ FEDERAL SENATOR

Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand, current senator since 2009 and lawyer, won re-election to the United States Senate for the state of New York and defeated Republican Mike Sapraicone, by a margin of 58.4%.

For the New Jersey State Senate, Democrat Andy Kim took victory for the first time and became the first Korean-American to win this race with 53.1% of the votes. Kim defeated Republican businessman Curtis Bashaw for the seat that had become vacant after Bob Menendez resigned last summer following his federal conviction on bribery charges. Kim is a three-term congressman from the 3rd District in central New Jersey and is now moving to the Senate.

WINNERS IN NEW YORK IN OTHER CONTESTS

On the other hand, among the Latino congressmen who won in our area is the Democrat and Dominican Adriano Espaillat who wins for the third time in the race for the 13th district of New York and with 83.6% of the votes in his favor. Espaillat defeated Republican Rubén Vargas.

For her part, Nydia Velázquez, a native of Puerto Rico, easily won in district 7 and renews her stake in the House of Representatives with 77.7% of votes in her favor

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of Puerto Rican roots, will also have one more term in Congress representing the 14th district. The Democrat obtained more than 68.9% of the votes.

Richie Torres, in The Bronx, won with 76.6% of the votes for District 15.

NEW JERSEY

In the Garden State, a race that many were looking forward to was the 8th district for the New Jersey House of Representatives, and the Democrat, congressman and lawyer, Robert Menéndez Jr., son of former senator Bob Menéndez, triumphs again and is re-elected by 59.2% of the constituents, against his biggest rival, the Republican, Anthony Valdés,
