The two gyms – The intervention in question consisted of the demolition of two old former military buildings, which was followed by the construction of two new gyms in the former state-owned area owned by the Province of Piacenza located between viale Risorgimento and Largo Brigata Piacenza. A new sports facility was therefore created consisting of two new gyms and a central service area hosting the main entrance and changing rooms / toilets and technical rooms. The load-bearing structure and the perimeter infill are in laminated wood, with dry laid panels and insulated with 28 cm of internal insulation. A further insulating coat was created externally. The foundation is a reinforced concrete slab supported by 188 piles with a depth of 12.5m and a diameter ranging from 24 to 26 cm. The new complex has a total area of approximately 2,000.00 square meters, with external heights ranging from 8.80 to 10.80 meters. The minimum useful internal height is 7.15 meters, in compliance with the provisions of the CONI technical standards.

The two gyms have an identical useful surface for the playing fields, despite having different overall dimensions. In particular, the large gym, which will accommodate 200 seats, has a useful surface of 960 square meters and can be divided by means of a suitable electrically controlled roll-up tarpaulin, so as to allow the presence of two sports classes / groups at the same time. Both are equipped with suitable sports parquet flooring, are equipped for the game of volleyball and basketball. The building is equipped with photovoltaic panels for the production of electricity, with a peak of 25 kW for an area of 200 square meters. about. The heating system, also suitable for the production of domestic hot water, is connected to the city district heating network. The heating of the internal rooms is ensured by radiant floor panels, while the exchanges are guaranteed by air handling units with heat recovery units of the expelled air.

The internal and external lighting systems are of the LED type in order to further contain energy consumption. The new building is part of the area of a total of 4,700 square meters transferred by the State Property Agency to the Province of Piacenza as part of the development agreement of the former Pontieri sector.
