For Vinciane Despret, philosopher of birds and those who listen to them, 61, the pandemic has shown that we do not respect enough the distances between animals, within cages but also between different species.

During the lockdown this spring, many people were surprised to hear the birds singing more than usual. Vinciane Despret, she did not notice anything in particular. “It is undoubtedly because I have the habit and the time to listen to the birds, even in normal times, because it is part of my job”, explains the philosopher of sciences, who teaches at the University of Cork.
