A prototype of the mysterious Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti that never found its way to store shelves was found among electronic waste, and the new owner has treated the Internet to a bunch of photos of what appears to be a graphics card almost complete.
Nvidia never launched Geforce RTX 4090 Ti or RTX Titan ADA as the model was mentioned in some leaks and rumors. However, prototypes of the graphics cards have appeared over the years. Prototypes that showed one really cold porky which takes up four full expansion slots to be able to cool what would likely be a real beast for graphics cards.
However, the prototypes that have appeared in previous pictures no longer exist just the radiator and their followers. What makes the Reddit user a user This_Explanation_514 found so interesting that a seemingly complete circuit board along with the refrigerator.
According to the pictures, the circuit board is mounted in the heatsink in a way that would make it parallel to the motherboard. Nvidia has previously said that they are experimenting with such a mount to get better airflow through the cooler. Something we can see now in these pictures.
Beyond this, there’s a lot we still don’t know about the prototype. The Reddit user has no longer attempted to use or disassemble the graphics card. If the prototype is for some reason close to being used, we hope to find out soon. In the “worst” case, the Reddit user may choose to sell the graphics card to a strange YouTube channel or similar that will give us a more detailed look.
