In South Africa’s Kruger National Park, a herd of elephants trampled a suspected poacher. The man was killed when he fled with two others from patrolling rangers.
De exploitant van South African National Parks writes on Twitter that one of the three has been arrested. He told the rangers that they dropped their belongings, including an ax and provisions, when they were noticed.
Then they came across a herd of elephants with calves. He was able to get away, not knowing if his henchmen had survived. The guards later found the badly battered body of one of his companions. There is no trace of the third man. This man is said to have been injured in the eye.
The manager thinks the three were looking for rhinos. The park is one of South Africa’s premier safari destinations and one of the continent’s largest game reserves, known for its elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards and buffalo.
