Eighty percent of the adult population in Belgium is fully vaccinated. Months ago, that was the target for group immunity to be achieved. Today, however, that group immunity seems unachievable. “A myth”, that’s what British professor Andrew Pollard even calls it. “As long as the efficiency of the vaccines does not improve, it does not seem feasible,” says biostatistician Tom Wenseleers. But if the herd immunity cannot be achieved, how will we get rid of the coronavirus?
