sorae – A jet spewing out from a young star, a Herbig halo object in the southern constellation Vela

Protostars are thought to begin to form when a densely packed molecular cloud of gas and dust contracts under its own gravity, and then grows as matter flows in from the surrounding disk of gas and dust.
