Tensions are increasing in Palavas-les-Flots between locals and some holidaymakers.

Friday night a new episode was added to the list violent incidents which punctuate the Palavasian summer. A fight had broken out, following an altercation between a shopkeeper and holidaymakers during which the shopkeeper and a municipal police officer were injured.
In the process, the traders of Palavas-les-Flots have once again lowered their curtains in solidarity. Saturday, several of them, with residents, expressed their anger in front of the gendarmerie where several people related to the fight were heard.

The prefect of Hérault, Jacques Witkowski went to Palavas-les-Flots this night where he was able to discuss with traders during various checks carried out. In order to respond to their concerns, he decided to send a reinforcement of thirty additional gendarmes (mobile gendarmes and gendarmes from a territorial detachment). The latter will position themselves in Palavas-les-Flots from this Sunday evening to support the security forces already present there.
