Hérault: the great resistance fighter Paulette Fouchard-Ayot bows out at the age of 100

It will have long kept the memory of the resistance alive. Paulette Fouchard-Ayot passed away this Friday, December 4, in Clermont-l’Hérault.

Born on May 31, 1920, in Loiret, the eldest of a family of nine children, she had become Saint-Andréenne by adoption. Great resistant, decorated many times, Knight of the Legion of Honor, she had published in 2015 “Resistant one day, resistant always”, written by Mireille Delfau.

Duty of memory

In 2017, she was elevated to the highest rank in the Order of Academic Palms, to the rank of Commander. Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, then Minister of National Education, thus confirmed the remarkable commitment of this personality “in the service of National Education” and wished “see highlighting the excellence of the services rendered by your contribution to the duty of memory.”

A living spirit which has always wished to pass on its duty to remember to younger generations. Paulette Ayot-Fouchard, will be buried this Wednesday, at 3 p.m., in Saint-André-de-Sangonis.
