Huge career
Born on September 17, 1931 in Colombières-sur-Orb in the Hérault, in a family of wine growers, this born storyteller, gifted teacher, eclectic passer, will have spent his life meeting, exploring, communicating, sharing, giving back what he received, a modern griot half-enchanting, half-iconoclastic endowed with an innate sense of clarity, dedicated to “being able to tell everyone everything”, reported Le Monde on Monday evening.
From the discreet charm of the bourgeoisie to Cyrano de Bergerac, he has signed some 90 adaptations for the cinema. He has written about sixty books (stories, essays, translations, fictions, interviews…) as well as many songs for Juliette Gréco, Jeanne Moreau or Brigitte Bardot. He has even been an actor in about fifteen films. We will of course come back at greater length to his immense career in our Wednesday edition.
