Hérault: For the Departmental, EELV is still looking for the recipe for the union of the lefts

While the departmental elections are, for the moment, still scheduled for June 13 and 20, Hérault environmentalists are slowly preparing their strategy, away from media scrutiny.

Since the 2019 European elections, ecology has been on the rise. While the National Rally is already predicted in the second round in 22 out of 25 cantons, the disunity of left-wing forces and the “almost” disappearance of the Republican Front could offer the Department to the party ablaze.

Have environmentalists already planned to launch an appeal to the forces of the left to build plural pairs?

The big gap: from the PS to rebellious France

While the outgoing socialist majority has made multiple appeals to environmentalists, the programmatic question remains thorny. A marriage of convenience which could be the key for an EELV group in a socialist majority, like the situation in Montpellier.

Another possibility, a potential alliance with rebellious France inserted in a set to this, “The Hérault Spring”. In this context, the ecologists would already be more in phase on the form and the substance, but with much lower risks of success.

The agreement could thus encompass all 25 cantons of the Department., with one condition it seems, the absence of the municipalist movement We Are, in the alliance. A prerequisite that may have been lifted, following the call for the resignation of Mohed Altrad by their leader … to be continued …
