Hérault/Football: a decree to prevent possible accidents for France-Morocco

It is a high-risk shock this Wednesday evening, with foreseeable floods in the streets and towns of the department: to preserve the festive and unifying character of the semi-final of the World Cup which will take place tonight in France and Moroccoand to prevent possible disturbances to public order, the prefect of the Hérault Hugues Moutouh has decided to take special police measures.

What is prohibited

It will be prohibited by prefectural decree throughout the Hérault department, from this Wednesday at 2 pm until tomorrow Thursday December 15 at 6 am: the transport and use of explosive products, fireworks, smoke bombs and firecrackers of all categories; the transport of fuel, alcohol for domestic use and all flammable products in cans, cisterns or various containers, with the exception of professionals who justify an activity that requires the supply of fuel.

Security forces

The internal security departmental forces (national police units including CRS and gendarmerie) will be mobilized to ensure the smooth running of this sporting event. During the previous matches won by the Moroccans, incidents broke out, especially in Montpellier, where on the sidelines of festive gatherings in the Place de la Comédie, arson of vehicles and garbage cans they were ignited at Mosson-la Paillade, Petit Bard and Mas Drevon, with shells fired at the CRS.

Youth gangs

According to a source close to the authorities in Subway, “Moroccan fans and families crowning their team’s qualifications were not involved in these incidents, which notably led to the disruption of tram and bus traffic, are other youth gangs known to cause unrest in the cities here that they were on the move”. There were up to 400 of them to compete with the police.
