Heracles Almelo beats SC Heerenveen and records its first home victory

In the match against sc Heerenveen, Heracles Almelo recorded its first home win of the season. The Frisians were defeated 2-1 in the Asito stadium.

In a wet and windy Asito stadium, Heracles Almelo and SC Heerenveen kicked off on Friday evening in the seventh round of the Eredivisie. Things went well in the initial phase, but there were no real big opportunities. Until Mario Engels shot the ball just wide and goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart stood in the way of a bet from Luka Kulenovic. In the twenty-fifth minute, Heracles Almelo managed to take the lead. A good corner from Daniël van Kaam was headed in by Damon Mirani, making it 1-0. Shortly afterwards, Fabian de Keijzer was put to work, but he kept his goal clear and scored a clean sheet at half time.

Immediately after the break, Kulenovic was dangerous with a solo from his own half, but he bumped into the SC Heerenveen keeper again. Although later in the match he seemed to work the ball past the visitors’ keeper, it was disallowed for offside. Shortly afterwards, SC Heerenveen managed to find the net with a great bang. De Keijzer then kept the Almelo team in the match with a few fantastic saves.

After a strong final phase by SC Heerenveen, Heracles Almelo started to push for the 2-1, but was still unable to get the ball against the ropes. After many goal attempts, Mario Engels finally managed to push the ball past the goalkeeper and shoot Heracles Almelo to victory.
