The mother and stepfather of a 1-year-old baby, identified as María Alexandra Rodríguez Ruíz (22) and Magdiel Edgardo Manaure Adarfio (20), were detained by the Coordination of Investigations of Crimes Against Persons of Ciudad Guayana,
They were accused of the crime of infanticide, in the Los Naranjos peasant settlement, Sucre street, Yocoima parish, Caroní municipality, San Félix, Bolívar state.
Investigators determined that the victim’s mother assaulted the little girl every time she argued with the infant’s biological father, who never recognized her.
Likewise, it was learned that María Rodríguez and the infant’s stepfather, to whom she gave her last name and raised since the girl was three months old, constantly beat her severely until on March 3 they caused her death. The result of the autopsy was severe head trauma, subdural hemorrhage and battered child syndrome, according to Commissioner Douglas Rico, director of the Cicpc.
Rodríguez and Manaure were placed under the order of the 10th Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry, of the Second Judicial Circumscription of the Bolívar state.
