Her Million Rupiah Balance Was Lost, Luna Maya: I Turned Out Just Got Tricked All

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Artist Luna Maya just had an accident.

Luna Maya was deceived by a party claiming to be customer service a cellular operator company by telephone.

The fraud caused Luna Maya to suffer a loss of more than Rp. 1.9 million.

The 38-year-old artist only realized that he was a victim of fraud after seeing the transaction history in his electronic wallet application.

“I just got tricked, guys,” said Luna quoted Kompas.com from YouTube Luna Maya, Wednesday (2/2/2022).

The chronology of the fraud started with Luna Maya who suddenly received a call from a phone number starting with +1.

“+16, how much is that, that means it’s actually WhatsApp,” said Luna.

A scammer who claims to be customer service from the cellular operator, offering Luna Maya a free phone call for three months and an offer to replace points into cash in the amount of Rp 800,000.

Realizing that she has a lot of points, Luna Maya is tempted and begins to follow all the instructions given.

“He said three months of free phone calls. Well, that’s okay, I immediately ‘okay, okay,'” said Luna.

“Then there are still 800 points that can be cashed out. ‘So how much?’ ‘Rp 800,000’ oh, it’s pretty good, I have a lot of points,” he continued.

Luna was directed to enter the M-Banking application then the E-Wallet application.

He was asked to send an OTP code and enter a nominal transfer of Rp. 1.9 million.

“For friends, be careful if you call and ask for OTP. I casually give OTP,” said Luna.

“He said ‘oh yes, just enter it’, his phone number is Link Aja, what does that mean later it’s up to you, this is an e-Wallet, then I enter my phone number, but why the nominal top up or transfers? Then I was told to 19, that if for example I have a lot of zero, it’s Rp. 19 million or Rp. 190 million, yes, but fortunately it’s only Rp. 1.9, how much, “said Luna again.

After the phone was turned off, Luna took the initiative to check the mutation in her electronic wallet and found debit activity.

Luna realized that she had been tricked.

“I should have received money, but why did I transfer it to D, it means debit, so the nominal is 1989268, Rp. 1.9 to almost Rp. 2 million, guys, I was tricked,” he said.
