[이데일리 스타in 이석무 기자] Heo Hoon (26, KT), recognized as the best guard in professional basketball, rose to the top of the All-Star fan vote for the second consecutive year. Heo Hoon (28, DB), his brother, also took second place, setting the record for the first time in professional basketball with the brothers taking the first and second place in the All-Star fan vote.
KBL officially announced on the 5th that “Heoung won the most votes with 32,2642 votes as a result of the All-Star fan poll that ended on the 4th.” With this, Heo Hoon enjoyed the honor of receiving the most votes for the second consecutive year following last year.
Heo Hoon, who was selected as the best player in the regular league last season (MVP), is also running at the top with 7.5 assists this season. The average score per game is also 14.6 points, ranking 12th in the league.
Heo Hoon’s older brother, Heo Woong, also ranked second with 31,421 votes. Heo Woong has won the 1st place in the All-Star Voting for the second consecutive year in the 2015-16 season and 2016-17 season. Heo Woong and Heo Hoon are the sons of former national coach Heo Jae, who was called the’Basketball President’. This is the first time that the brothers ranked first and second in a professional basketball All-Star fan vote, launched in 1997.
Following the brothers Heo Hoon and Heo Woong, Jeonju KCC Song Gyo-chang (31,217 votes), Busan KT Yang Hong-seok (38,914 votes), and Changwon LG Kim Si-rae (27,938 votes) followed. In this year’s All-Star Fan Vote, four of the top five (Hoon-Kim Si-Rae-Yang Hong-seok- Song Gyo-chang-Lee Jeong-hyun) last season’s All-Star Fan Vote again rose to the top 5 and showed unchanged popularity. On the other hand, Lee Dae-heon (Electronic Land), Park Jun-young (KT), Moon Sung-gon (KGC), Izea Hicks (Samsung), and Tyler Davis (KCC) were the first to be on the list of 24 All-Stars.
This year’s Hyundai Mobis Professional Basketball All-Star Game will not hold an event to comply with the government’s COVID-19 prevention policy, to consider the safety of fans and players, and to operate the rest of the game in a stable manner.
To soothe fans’ regrets, KBL prepared a program in which All-Star players and fans directly communicate and participate in the All-Star game break period (January 14-18) using KBL TV (Youtube, Instagram, Facebook) channels. It is planning to conduct real-time broadcasting.
In addition, there will be an event in which fans vote online to determine the winner of the video of’the best scenes of three-point shot and dunk shot this season’ recommended by each club.
The 24 players selected by this All-Star fan vote will attach a commemorative patch with the All-Star Games logo on their team uniforms after the All-Star Games break to participate in the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, as Caddy Laren, who was ranked 10th in the fan vote, was replaced in general for the season, Kim Hyun-soo, the second-ranked (25th) Seoul Samsung player, was on the final 24 list.
