As he approaches his 100th birthday, the name of the seasoned American politician Henry Kissinger appears in many files and pivotal issues, as it has throughout history.
In an interview with the American “CBS” network, the former US Secretary of State spoke about many of the current tensions around the world, the dangers of artificial intelligence in crisis situations, and his opinion on his track record during the stages of his political life that witnessed peace and war.
With the start of the meeting, Kissinger was asked that if he was asked to visit Russia to speak with President Vladimir Putin, what would his reaction be, to say that he was inclined to do so, but as an advisor, adding that the Ukrainian war was approaching an important turning point.
With regard to China, Kissinger pointed out that China cannot be excluded from the international system, and the Taiwan issue could lead to war between two high-tech countries (China and America), and this requires attention, “It is a very dangerous period.”
Earlier, Henry Kissinger warned against entering into a second Cold War, believing that it would be more dangerous than the first.
In an interview with the Spanish newspaper “El Mundo”, Kissinger said: “A new Cold War could start between China and the United States. Both countries enjoy similar economic resources, which was not the case during the first Cold War. Beijing and Washington are now adversaries, and it is not worth Waiting for China to become Western-leaning.”
In another previous meeting, the veteran US diplomat Henry Kissinger warned that the desire of some to dismantle Russia might lead to nuclear chaos, calling for a negotiated peace in Ukraine to reduce the risk of a devastating world war.
He added, “We are now living in a completely new era,” noting that the geopolitical situation in the world will witness major shifts after the end of the Ukraine war.
