Henrik Lundqvist invests in GoCo Active

Henrik Lundqvist invests in GoCo Active – an initiative for the health of the future – together with GoCo Health Innovation City, University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.

In recent years, GoCo Health Innovation City has established a successful arena where academia, private and public activities have collaborated to together accelerate development in health innovation and thus contribute to a better world. Now they are taking the next step on the journey, by launching GoCo Active, a building and digital platform, which aims to find solutions to some of the world’s biggest health challenges.

– GoCo has the potential to become a platform where academia and companies work closely together to achieve joint success. I am really looking forward to taking the next step in preventive health care by making the pioneering research on sports medicine central to achieving health for the public, says Eva Wiberg, Rector of the University of Gothenburg.

– GoCo Active creates an arena for collaborations and meetings between researchers, students, athletes and the general public. As a national sports university and with research at the intersection of health and technology, Chalmers’ operations are well in line with what we want to do within the project. To be able to contribute to improved health and a development in that area feels both important and fun, says Stefan Bengtsson, Rector and CEO of Chalmers University of Technology.

“The King of New York”, returns to his hometown to start the next chapter of his career. By investing in GoCo Active, Henrik Lundqvist contributes to building the next generation center for health and physical activity. Together with world-leading researchers in sports medicine, prominent architects and digital experts, he wants to create an experience beyond the ordinary. Henrik believes that Sweden’s strong belief that sport is for everyone and his own many years of experience as a professional player in the NHL, in combination with brave entrepreneurs, prominent researchers and strong creators create opportunities to make a real difference.

– In Sweden, we have a rich history of great athletes and a huge platform for science and research. It’s time to combine them and create a place where everything falls into place. We live in a time where our health, both physically and mentally, is very important. Throughout my life, sports and exercise have played a major role. As many of us know, the first step in living a good life is a healthy lifestyle with exercise. As children or adults, we will all benefit from it. This project will help us create a place for everyone, with lots of knowledge and guidance, with the ultimate goal of high performance and good health.

The project is established with a common belief that leading research must be made available more quickly.

– Patricia Industries and our portfolio companies are committed to improving life and health through investments in life science. We are proud and happy to be part of and support this initiative through our real estate company Vectura, with a focus on preventive physical and mental health, says Christian Cederholm, Head of Patricia Industries, part of Investor.

GoCo Active will be established in the heart of GoCo Health Innovation City located in Mölndal, right next to AstraZeneca.

– For AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, it is obvious to support the establishment of GoCo Active, and we think that the initiative follows our goals and values well. Giving all people access to health and care, not least for a preventive purpose, is a central part of our business and we see that GoCo Active is an important step along the way, says Anders Holmén, Vice President and Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences, R&D , and AstraZeneca.

GoCo Health Innovation City is a billion investment in new research and development environments in connection with AstraZeneca’s facility in Mölndal. The vision is to create a place with the potential to take a global leadership in Life Science. The project has been initiated by the companies Next Step Group, Vectura Fastigheter and AstraZeneca.
