Hennef: Accident at Eulenberger See – diver pulls man (19) out of water – Cologne

Hennef (NRW) – At the last second, the fire department saved a 19-year-old from drowning on Friday evening. It is unclear whether the swimmer, who comes from Altenkirchen in Rhineland-Palatinate, has a chance of survival after 30 minutes under water. The fire department was unable to provide any information on its condition on Saturday.

A group of young people had spent the summer day at Eulenberger See near Hennef with friends. Around 5:30 p.m. two men wanted to cool off again and swam out. Suddenly one of the two was gone. The group immediately started searching, the fire department informed. It made its way by boat through the impassable nature reserve.

“A sonar was used for the first time on one of the boats. We were able to use ultrasound to discover a body only five meters from the bank, ”reports the fire department. The young man drifted eight meters below the surface. A diver from the DLRG jumped into the water, pulled the lifeless body to the shore.

An ambulance was already waiting, the rescuers immediately started to resuscitate and raced to the hospital.

A total of 69 firefighters were involved in the operation.
