“Hennebont narrowly defeats Chartres in table tennis match featuring impressive performance by Abdel-Kader Salifou”

Deprived of its flagship player Chih-Yuan Chang, French n°2, GV Hennebont assumed its favorite status on Tuesday, May 2, at the Rosskopf hall in Chartres, by winning 3-2. A defeat that sounds like a small victory for the Chartrains, as the CCTT showed an attractive face.

The Danish table tennis player from Hennebont, Anders Lind, although in good shape this season, never managed to make the Hungarian Majoros doubt in the first match (3-0, a match to nil for Chartres).

An Abdel-Kader Salifou of great evenings

But Karlsson, impressive this Tuesday evening, calmed the Eurelian hardeurs in stride, dominating a Vitor Ishiy (3-1) who clearly did not have the weapons against the French n°3 with a devastating forehand. If the CCTT Brazilian took a set from Karlsson, he was often overtaken, leaving Hennebont to come back to a match everywhere.

In a third high-level meeting, the Greek of GV Hennebont, Ioannis Sgouropoulos, came across an Abdel-Kadel Salifou of the big nights. The French CCTT made his opponent bend after missing three match points (3-2).

A defeat, but two important points

Opposed to Majoros in a match that should not be lost, Karlsson, again, did not tremble, even after being down 5-0 in a third set which he won (15-13), to allow it’s up to Hennebont to get back in the running (two games everywhere).

The fifth and final game was dominated by Anders Lind, more incisive and precise than in his first game. He got the better of CCT resident Vitor Ishiy (3-1), who suffered his second loss of the night.

By taking two points despite everything, C’Chartres Table Tennis joins Jura-Morez in 5th place (36 points). A significant leap in the rankings which allows the Chartrains to keep hope in view of qualifying for the play-offs (the first four are qualified). It will be necessary on May 9, in Rouen, to do better than the Jurassians, who will play against the last, Saint-Denis.

Hennebont beats Chartres 3 to 2. Approximately 200 spectators. Bence Majoros (HON, n°25) beat Anders Lind (DAN, n°19) 3-0 (14-12,-11-8, 11-8) (1-0) ; Kristian Karlsson (SUE, n° 3) bat Vitor Ishiy (BRE, n° 34) 3-1 (11-9, 8-11, 11-5, 11-8) (1-1) ; Abdel-Kader Salifou (FRA n°66) bat Ioannis Sgouropoulos (GRE, n°59) 3-2 (11-9, 6-11, 11-4, 13-15, 11-9 ) (2-1) ; Kristian Karlsson (SUD, n°3) beat Bence Majoros (HON, n°25) 3-1 (11-5, 11-7, 7-11, 15-13) (2-2). . . . Anders Lind (DAN, No. 19) beat Vitor Ishyi (BRE, No. 34) 9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7 (3-2).
