The Indonesian men’s doubles representative at Badminton Asia Championship 2023. It’s after Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan ran aground.
Quarterfinal match Hendra/Ahsan against Indian representatives Satwiksairaj Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty held at Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Noor Indoor Hall, Al Nassr Club, Dubai, Friday (28/4/2023) evening WIB. Daddies who became the third seed lost two straight games 11-21 and 12-21.
In the first game, Hendra/Ahsan overtook Rankireddy/Shetty from the start. Positions are level at 8-8 before Rankireddy/Chirag lead 11-8 in the interval.
After that, Rankireddy/Chirag stepped on the gas to collect five more points to lead 16-8. Hendra/Ahsan occasionally added points, but Rankireddy/Chirag were too dominant and won 21-11.
Entering the second game, again a tight duel at the start to position 6-6. Rankireddy/Chirag were then able to slowly escape from Hendra/Ahsan’s pressure to lead 11-8 at the interval.
Rankireddy/Chirag won five consecutive points to lead 16-8 which Hendra/Ahsan could cut to 11-16. Unfortunately, Rankireddy/Chirag did not waste the opportunity to finish the match in 28 minutes 21-12.
With Hendra/Ahsan eliminated, Indonesia only sent two representatives to the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships Semifinals, namely Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
