Hendra/Ahsan Target Semifinals at French Open 2021

Jakarta

Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan don’t want to achieve a similar result in Denmark in the tournament French Open 2021. They hope to reach the semifinals.

Hendra/Ahsan emerged as the second seed in the BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament which will take place from 26 to 31 October 2021.

This old couple has already passed their first challenge. They beat Japanese doubles Keiichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi in two straight games with a score of 21-19, 23-21. The match was held at the State Pierre de Coubertin in 39 minutes.

The world number 2 doubles are happy to be able to undergo their first match with a win.

“What is certain is that we are grateful that Alhamdullilah was able to win today. We don’t think we can perform at 100 percent. But hopefully in the next match we can develop even better and can return to our best game,” said Ahsan.

Hendra/Ahsan will meet Taiwanese doubles Yang Pohan/Lu Ching Yao in the second round on Thursday (10/28/2021). On paper, the 2019 All England champions have never lost in their three meetings. However, Hendra/Ahsan did not want to be careless.

“It’s still tough, yes (men’s doubles competition). Now we can’t see the opponent first but focus on ourselves. Look at the conditions as well, how can we perform better,” said Ahsan.

Hendra said the same thing. He said his current condition with Ahsan was quite good despite the hectic schedule of the tournament.

For that, Hendra hopes to continue to advance to the best position. In the previous tournament, Denmark Open 2021 they stopped in the round of 32.

“We are both in good condition, so now we are more focused on the second half,” said Hendra.

“Our target is the semifinals, because when we see the opponents it is also not easy. The important thing is to be more prepared and fight again,” he added.
