Hemsedal – Tested positive: – Refused to go home

In the last 24 hours, four new cases of infection have been registered in Hemsedal, the municipality states.

Two of these “were close contacts to known infection” and not permanent residents of the municipality.

According to municipal chief physician Camilla Underland, these two have refused to go home when the positive test results came. She describes this as “challenging” to the newspaper Hallingdølen.

Traveled before test results

The main rule is that you who are waiting for a test answer should stay at home until you have received an answer, writes The Norwegian Directorate of Health on its website. In connection with this year’s winter holiday, the Hemsedal mayor also had a clear message for the cabin people:

– If you are in quarantine, isolation, waiting for test results and are unsure, then you should stay at home and not go to the cabin, said mayor Pål Rørby to Dagbladet that time.

But according to the newspaper, Hallingdal has on several occasions seen that people do not follow this advice.

The case that municipal chief physician Underby refers to, concerns a family who tested themselves in Oslo and traveled to the mountains before the answer came.

– They refused to go home. Then it is our job to take care of them, even if the recommendation is to travel, Underland tells the newspaper.

Evaluating new regulations

Mayor Pål Rørby tells Dagbladet that he does not know the details of this case.

– I have been informed that there was a family who did not want to go home, even though they had tested positive. I have no insight into the basis for that or what lies behind it. For all I know, there may be a good reason for this.

– Are you considering a new regulation that will provide an opportunity to send people home if they test positive?

– Yes. We have an assessment to be made during the day, whether a temporary regulation should be introduced that says something about this. From before, we have one on the duty to use face masks and another on visit restrictions.

He emphasizes that the vast majority follow the recommendations made by the higher authorities.

– Then there are a few who challenge this and do not take into account the recommendations. Then we must assess from case to case whether there is a need for a regulation and the introduction of a ban, says Rørby and adds:

– In general, we recommend everyone to follow recommendations and regulations, and hope that it will be unnecessary to introduce a ban in the form of regulations on everything that is a recommendation.

23 in quarantine

In addition to these two mentioned cases of infection, two people living in the municipality have also been diagnosed with infection in the last 24 hours.

– 23 people were quarantined. All rapid tests so far are negative, further PCR answers await.

The infection situation is considered under control, the municipality states on its website.

Easter message

Last week, Minister of Health Bent Høie came up with nine Easter commandments for areas with high infection.

1. Do not go on overnight visits to family and friends – unless you are a student without your own family or live alone.

2. If your municipality asks you to avoid visits at home – avoid visits where you stay at Easter.

Do not go to hotels or other accommodations where many gather.

4. Stay home if you are sick. Go home if you get sick.

5. Stay home if you are waiting for a corona test answer.

6. Children or young people can have visits from one to two regular friends.

7. If you go to a cabin – travel only with your own household or one to two close if you live alone.

8. If you go to a cabin – shop before you go and avoid all places where people gather. Keep your distance in ski lifts and ski slopes.

9. Follow the advice in the municipality you live and the municipality you visit.

The government is holding a press conference tonight about the corona situation. FHI says people must be prepared for austerity measures at Easter.
