It was no further fun season in the super league in 2023 for Helsingborg.
The team was in a bad place for a long time and fought tooth and nail to avoid the relegation and qualifying places. But with Stuart Baxter’s help at the helm, they managed to end the season on safe ground.
On Monday, however, it was clear that Baxter will not remain in the head coaching position at the club. Now HIF has subsequently presented his replacement in Klebér Saarenpää.
– It feels good and expectant to get inside these walls, get to know the club, the city and the region. My image and what I am told is that I am very clear, direct, analytical, have great integrity but also differentiate between the footballer and the human being. I want to see passion and demand the maximum from each individual. It must be seen on the plan as a whole through team spirit and identity. Clarity becomes important and setting the framework for who I am and what we are going to do because it is not about me, but we are a leadership team and a group of players who will do this together, he says in a press release.
Saarenpää comes closest to series competitor Brage where he has been since 2018. Previously, he also had experience as a coach in Denmark’s Vejle, Syrianska and Hammarby.
– We knew what we were looking for and held discussions with several coaches who fit that profile description. After the first meeting with Klebér, we felt that it was very interesting and decided to move on, says sports manager Mikael Dahlberg and continues:
– We feel that we have gone through a thorough process and are extremely happy to have Klebér on site with us.
The 47-year-old represented as a player Sirius, Djurgården, Norrköping, Hammarby, as well as the Danish clubs Ålborg and Vejle.
