In the picture you can see our Blackbird. Merel is my 10 year old godchild. About 2 months ago she was suddenly diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma. Medulloblastoma is a brain tumor that mainly occurs in childhood.
After Merel has had surgery and a large part of the tumor tissue has been removed, she is currently undergoing radiation every day for 6 weeks. This is followed by more than half a year of chemotherapy.
As you can see in the picture, Merel has a big bunch of long hair, which she is very proud of. While the radiation is in full swing, her beloved hair is already thinning and starting to fall out. Hair loss would certainly take place during the later chemotherapy, but the current radiation is unfortunately already drastic.
To have a Toupim hair band made from her own hair, we have set up this crowdfunding campaign. Although the headband is normally fully reimbursed for children, delivery is 18 days. We would like to ensure that Merel can use the headband within 48 hours, but this comes with a hefty price tag. Our target amount is therefore €1500.
Do you want to help us and contribute? Every little bit helps of course and all help is very much appreciated!!!!
If you donate more money than the intended target amount for the headband, this will benefit other possible expenses or a nice holiday for the family, as soon as this is possible and Merels’ treatments allow this. Because after everything Merel is going through at the moment, but also her mother and brother, they all really deserve to enjoy together.
