The modern dating world makes it easy for those interested to make new acquaintances. On the other hand, it also harbors dangers. The slasher “F Marry Kill”, which will soon be released in the USA, takes a humorous look at the whole thing. Here is the trailer:
“F Marry Kill” (actually “Fuck Marry Kill”) is a party game that is particularly popular in North America. A player is given three names – such as actors or colleagues, classmates, etc. – which are then to be ranked according to popularity: which of the three people would you want to have sex with, which would you marry? and which ones prefer to kill?
From this, director Laura Murphy (“Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery”) has now created a slasher horror for the studio BuzzFeed Entertainment (“Fall”, “The Black Demon”) and the distributor Lionsgate (“John Wick”, “Saw”) comedy elements. Undoubtedly, one would be more than satisfied if the film, which has slight “Scream” and “Happy Deathday” elements, were only halfway in the direction of its role models in terms of success.
The slasher fun debuts in the USA on December 6, 2024 in selected cinemas and also as video-on-demand. When and how “F Marry Kill“Comes to Germany is still unclear.
You can expect the main role to be played by Lucy Hale, who celebrated her big breakthrough with the teen series “Pretty Little Liars”. Hale also played the protagonist in another horror film based on a similar board game: “Truth or Dare”. We can only hope that “F Marry Kill” will be at least a little better than its weak, yet surprisingly successful predecessor.
The other important parts were with Virginia Gardner from “Fall”, Brooke Nevin (“Call Me Fitz”), JayR Tinaco (“Another Life”), Bethany Brown (“The Good Doctor”), Jedidiah Goodacre (“Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina “), Brendan Morgan (“Meet Me Next Christmas”) and Samer Salem from “The Expanse”.
“F Marry Kill”: That’s the story
Eva (Hale) is turning 30 and, according to her best friends (Gardner, Tinaco, Brown), has been single for far too long. That’s why they persuade her to download a dating app onto her smartphone. Of course, a lot of young men immediately come forward and want to take her out. Eva chooses three of them (Goodacre, Morgan, Salem) to each meet for a date. Surprisingly, she gets along very well with everyone.
At the same time, however, a serial killer, the infamous “Swipe Right Killer”, is causing fear and terror in the city – a case that fascinates true crime junkie Eva. As new details about the bloody deeds are revealed in her favorite podcast, she slowly but surely begins to suspect that one of her three admirers could be the one she is looking for. But which one is it? Encouraged by her friends, Eva is determined to find out.

What inspired Laura Murphy to explore the themes of relationships and dating apps in “F Marry Kill”?
Hello, and thank you for joining us today for this exciting interview about the upcoming slasher horror-comedy film “F Marry Kill.” We have with us Ms. Laura Murphy, the director of the movie, and Ms. Lucy Hale, who plays the leading role of Eva in the film.
Laura, you are known for directing previous horror films like “Who Killed Santa?” and “The Black Demon.” What interested you in adapting the popular party game “F Marry Kill” into a slasher horror-comedy film?
Laura Murphy: Thank you for having us. I’ve always been a huge horror film fan and was drawn to the dark humor of the “F Marry Kill” game. The idea of blending humor and horror together while also exploring relationships and our obsession with dating apps really appealed to me. We wanted to create a film that was not only scary but also relatable and entertaining, and I felt like the concept of “F Marry Kill” fit perfectly into that. It’s about taking something that’s familiar and twisting it into something new and unexpected.
Ms. Hale, you played the protagonist in another horror film, “Truth or Dare.” Can you compare the experience of working on these two horror films and how they differ from each other? Additionally, what attracted you to the role of Eva in “F Marry Kill”?
Lucy Hale: Of course! Both “Truth or Dare” and “F Marry Kill” are horror films, but they approach the genre in different ways. “Truth or Dare” had a more traditional ghost story feel to it, while “F Marry Kill” is more of a hybrid between horror and comedy with a contemporary slasher twist. I was drawn to the character of Eva because she’s a strong, independent woman who makes terrible choices when it comes to dating. Her journey throughout the film is both terrifying and relatable.
The casting of the film includes well-known actors like Virginia Gardner, JayR Tinaco, Brooke Nevin, Jedidiah Goodacre, and Samer Salem. How did you choose your cast, and what were your experiences working with them?
Laura Murphy: We had an incredible group of actors to choose from, but we wanted
