Dear reader,
Through this way we want to offer support to our dear Ilse. Anyone who knows Ilse knows that she is a bon vivant, who gives her full 100% day in and day out in her work and her social life and is always there for the many lovely people around her. Unfortunately, she has not been able to do this for a year now, because (as it recently turned out) Ilse has long COVID. Through this crowdfunding we want to finally give Ilse her beautiful life and zest for life back.
After the summer of 2022, Ilse ended up at home: severely tired and overstimulated, she was confined to her home for months. After a year of thinking that this was a burnout, long COVID was recently diagnosed. This also means that the treatment has not contributed to her recovery over the past year. Even though she has tried everything to combat the alleged burnout. She has undergone several therapies, fitted custom-made earplugs, taken breathwork lessons and personal training to rebuild her fitness. After a few months, she tried to return to her work as a social worker at a secondary school for a few hours or to spend time with friends or family again for a short time. Time and again she returned home very tired and completely overstimulated. In recent weeks, Ilse’s health has deteriorated even more and Ilse is not even able to take walks or do simple household tasks (such as cooking). Little is left of the 29-year-old young woman that Ilse was, her life has been at a standstill for a long time.
We want nothing more than our old Ilse back. Fortunately, more and more is becoming known about the consequences of long COVID and the cure for it. For example, several rehabilitation programs have now been set up for people suffering from the consequences of long COVID. Such as the rehabilitation program offered by NeuroRC (https://www.neurorc.nl/long-covid). A rehabilitation process that, from the various processes, is most suitable for Ilse’s complaints.
Several long COVID patients who have received this treatment have noticed great improvement. The people Ilse spoke to were actually able to undertake social activities again and were also taking steps towards returning to their work. Their quality of life has improved enormously as a result of this rehabilitation process! We wish Ilse the same soon.
However, this intensive treatment costs €12,190. A significant amount, which is unfortunately not reimbursed by health insurers. We have already asked many organizations to contribute in a (creative) way, but unfortunately without success, often because long COVID is still too new a phenomenon. In addition, Ilse is currently giving up part of her salary because she has been at home for more than a year.
Because we want nothing more than for Ilse to receive the best treatment and regain hope for a better life as soon as possible, we ask you all to help us with this. That is why we call on all lovely people in our network (and beyond) to contribute to making treatment possible for Ilse. Everything is welcome, every euro counts, whatever you want to give or can lose. Thank you very much, on behalf of friends, family, us and of course Ilse herself! ❤
