A shipment of weapons from Germany is already on its way to Ukraine and will arrive there in a matter of hours, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said on Monday, February 28. We are talking about the supply of anti-tank shells and man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) Stinger.

In addition, according to the German Ministry of Defense, the Bundeswehr sends Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to NATO-member Slovakia, which borders Ukraine.
The German government decided on direct deliveries of lethal weapons to Ukraine on February 26, retreating from its previous position regarding the export of weapons to crisis regions.
It is important to support Ukraine in its opposition to the Russian attack, Lambrecht said.
At the same time, Germany takes an active part in strengthening the defense on the eastern flank of NATO.
In addition to the previously announced deployment of military personnel to Slovakia, Patriot air defense systems will be deployed there to send “a clear signal of the political determination of the alliance towards Russia,” the Defense Ministry said in a letter to the Bundestag’s defense committee.
