In the collection centers installed in Mexico City (CDMX) Help has begun to arrive from the capital’s residents to send Guerrero due to the damage left in its wake by Hurricane Otis.
The Mexican Red Cross opened the doors of the collection center to help those affected by the hurricane. Since last Thursday they began to receive help at the facilities of the worthy institution located at 200 Luis Vives Street, in Polanco, CDMX.
Donating, helping, is very important especially in these cases which are really a tragedy. It is very important to help, I have suffered some hurricanes, I worked on the coast and the truth is that without help it is very serious. People right now are without any services, with little food, so they require total support, we have to do it as we have always done. Today I brought a pantry with beans, rice, tuna, sugar and coffee, products that do not perish, that do not spoil. The Red Cross has always been one of the first to take action and the truth is that it is an institution that has always supported and continues to support,” said Eduardo Salgado Aparicio.
The requested items are:
- Non-perishable foods such as rice, beans, tuna, coffee and cookies, among others.
- Cleaning products: powdered soap, bleach, brooms and mops.
- Water is requested in a maximum presentation of one liter.
- What is not recommended to bring is clothing and medications.
Red Cross authorities mentioned that Five thousand provisions have already been sent in a truck that left for the affected area last Thursday afternoon.
Aid in kind is received from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Sunday.
Semar collection center in CDMX
The Secretary of the Navy (Semar) installed five collection centers to help those affected by Hurricane Otis in the state of Guerrero, located in Door 4 of the same institution, in the logistics facilities that are in the Agrícola Oriental neighborhood; at the Center for Naval Studies; in Health Sciences located on the Calzada de la Virgen; at the Naval Medical Center located on Escuela Naval Militar avenue; and at the Club Naval Norte, located on Fernando Avenue in the San Miguel Chapultepec neighborhood.
We are asking the population here to support us with donations for the victims of Hurricane Otis with products that cannot be affected by the environment. Ready to cook because we know that in Acapulco they do not have electricity to prepare their food, if possible everything canned food, cookies, bottled water, toilet paper, sanitary towels, powdered milk. The collection centers of the Ministry of the Navy will be operating from eight in the morning to eight at night from Monday to Sunday,” said Lieutenant Lieutenant Cesar Bustos.
Our Mexican brothers are happy to help us because they need it. We brought some cans of tuna in water, we brought vegetables, fruit in syrup, mainly canned, cooked beans and sanitary products. A little of how much Acapulco has given us is to return a little of how much we have enjoyed there. I cooperate with bottled water, beans, diapers and instant soups, nothing more. The message I would give them is that everything will work out, everything will happen with everyone’s help,” said Rosa María Perfecto, donor.
The aid collected by Semar will be leaving by land aboard the institution’s trailers and will be delivered to the victims through the Marina plan protocol
I would tell the victims that we love them and that we sympathize with them and we hope that they will soon come out with the grace of God,” Rosa María added.
