Helmut Lotti has been living for some time in the Walloon town of Durbuy “in Pluto’s lair”, as he says himself. The singer is willing to receive four Ukrainian refugees at his home, and has therefore taken the step to register as a shelter.
“The mayor of Durbuy is also our vet, so we know each other personally. I asked what I could do to help those people, and he immediately officially registered me as a host family,” says the singer.
“On our top floor there are two guest rooms, each with a double bed. They are almost always empty. There are separate sanitary facilities between the two rooms, with a walk-in shower, a sink, a toilet. So in fact a mother and three children can easily stay in peace and privacy. And those people are also welcome on the ground floor with us, to eat together, for example.”
