BVJOE is launching a new digital channel today. In addition to music from the ’60s and ’70s, JOE Gold will also feature the familiar JOE voices Sven & Anke, Jan Bosman, Carl Schmitz and Lenke Van Olmen. But Helmut Lotti will also be present as an expert. The brand new JOE DJ is preparing a series about his absolute hero Elvis Presley. “I know something about that.”
Helmut is now ready for his debut as a radio maker. “I have been a guest at Radio Minerva and Radio 2 as a co-presenter in the past, but JOE Gold will be completely different,” says the artist. “During a series I will be able to select my favorite Elvis music and showcase all my knowledge about my idol. I really like that, because I really know something about it.”
Helmut made his debut at the age of nineteen as an Elvis impersonator in the Dutch ‘Soundmixshow’, but proved his preference for the King of rock ‘n roll in 2002 with the album ‘My tribute to the King’, an accompanying TV special and the documentary series ‘ In the footsteps of The King’, for which he did a lot of interviews and research work. “I will really be able to captivate the listener with great stories and facts. I have plenty of ideas, because my private collection at home has about 4,000 LPs and CDs, of which at least more than 100 are by Elvis. I own everything he released officially on vinyl and CD and have arranged them perfectly by genre and alphabetically. However, I also have a lot of illegal bootlegs, although I don’t know yet whether I will be allowed to show them in the program. (laughs) In any case, I will not only discuss his greatest hits, but also many forgotten gems. When I received this proposal to talk about my connection with The King, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I don’t know yet when the program will start, but I certainly consider it a privilege that I can make this. This will be a wonderful job. I’m really looking forward to this.”
Continue to surprise
JOE Gold replaces JOE 60s & 70s and continues to build on the successful track record of that digital channel. “More than 150,000 loyal listeners tune in to JOE 60s & 70s every week, which is testament to the strong bond that the digital radio station has built up over the years. We are determined to continue to surprise our audiences with even more music and familiar voices that take the listener back to those golden years. Michel Follet also gets a regular column in which he tells stories about classics,” says Robin Vissenaekens, Channel Manager JOE.
