NEW YORK – The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) must again limit the activities of the crew
International Space Station (ISS). They were forbidden to walk in space as was often done before.
This is not without reason. The reason is that NASA has just discovered a problem with the astronauts’ helmets, where the helmets are constantly filled with water making it impossible to use, reported by Space.com.

This activity restriction will continue indefinitely. What is certain is that this will continue until NASA actually manages to find out what causes the water in the helmets of the astronauts.
“Until we understand better what the contributing factors are. So we’re not going to let astronauts do Spacewalks until we get to them,” said Dana Weigel, Deputy Space Station Program Manager at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
It said NASA is currently conducting an extravehicular mobility unit (EMU) spacesuit assessment after water was found on the helmet worn by European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Matthias Maurer while walking in space on March 23.
This means astronauts will not go out and perform extravehicular (EVA) activities unless there is an urgent need for repairs on the International Space Station. Not only that, unnecessary space travel will be stopped.
To note, this is the second time spacewalks have been stopped due to an unexpected water leak. Previously this error occurred in July 2013 far where the problem found was much more serious.
At that time, ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano suffered a severe water leak that ended up covering most of his face. His space journey with Chris Cassidy from NASA had to be stopped because of the already severe water volume.
This problem occurred approximately an hour after Luca Parmitano started his journey in outer space. Luckily, Parmitano can still survive the incident without any significant injuries.
