Conduction, contents, audience and set design of the Russian program recalls the Italian trash TV of the Eighties.
A parody which is the triumph of kitsch and which therefore becomes a work of art. «Hello 2021», the New Year’s Eve show broadcast on the Russian channel Primo Canale, a huge success in the ratings and on YuTube. The show, now in its second appointment this year, all rigorously in Italian with Russian subtitles and conducted by Giovanni Urganti (“Italianized” version of the popular conductor Ivan Urgant), was attended by singers and protagonists from the world of Russian TV entertainment , who proposed some Russian musical hits in Italian. The interpretation recalls, between clichés and clichés, the musical Italy of the Eighties. But they like it – and they like it! -, so much so that in a few hours it has exceeded 500 thousand views on Youtube.

Last year, “Hello 2020” turned out to be an outsider program with millions of YouTube views and enthusiastic online comments. The 2021 edition was no less, confirming the success of the format, all centered on musical performances bordering on trash, jokes and references to musical Italy of the seventies and eighties, the Sanremo Festival in the lead, which, with its pop culture, so much influence has had on post-Soviet Russia. Among the video messages to Russian citizens, that of Toto Cutugno, the Rich and the Poor, Al Bano and even Fedez, who pretended to be local artists, offering Happy New Year greetings strictly in Russian. With final apotheosis: the intervention of Vladimir Putin (the result of a very effective assembly of computer graphics) for an auspicious speech. «Dear friends, the year 2021 goes away – says the Russian president, behind which a backdrop shows the Colosseum -. It was a year that was anything but easy, the difficulties we encountered made us even more united and compact. We have a very large, beautiful country. If we want to do something we will do it and we will do it, let’s raise our glasses together. I wish you a happy year 2022 ».
