The round of Monbus Obradoiro presentations continues and this morning it was Henry Ellenson’s turn. The Obradoiro power forward has been presented at the Wonder Nutrition Santiago facilities (located in the Central Area), a member of the Obradoiro Business Club, which has renewed its commitment to the club for this season. At the event, one of the company’s partners, Luis Pernas, was present, along with the new signing and the general and sporting director of Obradoiro, Jose Luis Mateo.
Henry Ellenson, we recall, has signed for the Work for one season and has a past on several NBA teams. We are talking about a power forward of 2.08 meters and 24 years old who comes from the Raptors 905 Mississauga, where he comes from averaging 21.5 points (59.8% in shots of two, 41.3% in triples and 90.0% in free), 8.1 rebounds, 0.4 blocks, 0.9 recoveries and 2.1 losses in 31.2 minutes (17 games) in the last edition of the G League. Absolute International and U17 for the United States, full a single year at Marquette University (Big East Conference Ideal Team, 17.0 points and 9.7 rebounds) before being elected No. 18 in the 2016 NBA Draft. In these five campaigns this competition has alternated (81 matches, between Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors) with the development league ”.
About the player, Jose Luis Mateo highlighted that “it’s about a player whose polyvalence It enables him to play both inside positions. The outside shot is his best quality, but he can do more things on the court, such as putting the ball on the ground or bouncing. We hope that he will be that wild card and be able to play with any of the interior players that we have in the team ”.
For his part, the player was very grateful to the club for “giving me this opportunity to come to Santiago and play for the ACB. I’m very excited. I spoke to Matt Thomas and Mike Muscala and they spoke very positively of their experiences here. I decided to come for everything they told me, but also for the opportunity to play in the acb. At this point in my career I want to play at the highest level and I felt that coming here would give me that opportunity. I really want to live this season that is already underway ”.
Henry spoke with the Obradoirista coach, as always happens when the Obra tries a contract, before signing: “Moncho had been following me for a long time, He was there in my first Summer League with José Luis Mateo. You know how I play. Being my first experience here, I wasn’t sure they knew my style of play that well. By talking to him, he conveyed to me that he knows how I am as a player and made me feel much more comfortable to make this decision. He told me how he would live this experience here, in this city and the high-level basketball in which we will compete. I am at a point in my career where I believe this is a step in the right direction. I’ve been a professional for six years and coming here, testing my game at a very high level and showing what I am as a player motivates me a lot ”.
About how they went these first days, Henry stressed that “they are being cool. The first two weeks of training have been tough, but we are learning a lot. I think we have a great group. The team is helping me a lot to make my adaptation easier. I love training with my teammates, that we compete to improve every day. The balance of these two weeks is very positive. It is time to continue growing as a team and to be better ”.
The new power forward defined himself as “a very versatile player, who can play on the perimeter and inside. I can shoot from far and also change small players in defense. In short, I can play outside, in the post and in the coach. You can use me for inside-outside combinations depending on the team’s interest ”.
Asked about what do you know about the league Endesa, Ellenson pointed out that “all teams are very talented. Every game is very tough. Each team has to do their best to win. My agent told me about this. This is the best league in Europe. And I love this. Because I love to compete ”.
