Helle Nordby (27), known from the “Chit Chat with Helle” podcast, opens in a new TikTok video about her experience with plastic surgery. She says she went through a major lifestyle change at 16 and she lost about 17 pounds when she turned 18.
Blister after self-tattoo
At 20, he sought a surgeon at Aleris Frogner: he wanted to have breast surgery.
Now she wants to inform others about what she has been through, as she experienced the operation a little harder than she thought in advance.
– A simple operation
– I haven’t done enough research on my own and thought the information I got from the surgeon was enough. Maybe it was naive and stupid of me to think, Nordby tells Dagbladet.
When she came for a consultation, the plan was just to ask a few questions, as she had no one around who had had a breast augmentation before. From the consultation, it only took her three days to get bigger breasts.
The podcast host came into the matter believing that she only needed a couple of days off work and had to abstain from training for six weeks, as well as not being able to lift anything at first.
– There was nothing else. It was a very simple operation and a lot of people do it, I was told.
Lost the sensation in the boobs
What she has not been told, however, is that during breast surgery there is a risk of losing sensitivity in the breast.
After the operation: – Still painful
“Numbness, reduced sensation in parts of the chest or in the nipples are not unusual after the operation. In most people, the sensation will return after a year, but some may have areas with permanently reduced sensitivity,” writes Klinikk Trondheim. on its website.
– I have lost all sensitivity to the right breast from the nipple down and much more to the breast itself.
It goes beyond sex life
This was a risk he had no idea of coming up with such an operation, he explains to Dagbladet.
– It affected my sex life in a very negative way. For me, having breast sensitivity is associated with sexual feelings and foreplay before sex, but that part is gone for me. He can still enjoy it, but there is no stimulus for me if I can put it this way. It just sucks and I think a lot of women get it.
Be “warped” – come back to the fore
The podcast host admits it was probably stupid of her not to ask, but if she knew how much it would affect her sex life, she might not have had the operation.
– I asked if I could breastfeed later and he (the surgeon, ed) said “I don’t know”, so I probably would have had the same answer if I had asked about sensitivity.
Dagbladet was in contact with Gro Bogen Nilsen, communications director of Aleris Frogner. Since Nordby has not exempted the clinic from its confidentiality obligation, he does not wish to comment on the case, nor on such an operation at a general level.
– My navel has been removed
– Since the patient has not released us from the duty of confidentiality, we do not consider it appropriate to provide general answers as they could be interpreted as a comment on the case, says Nilsen, and further clarifies:
– Everyone has their own health information; we don’t want to do anything that could be perceived as incompatible with his desire.
I wanted more information
In addition to reduced breast sensitivity, the 27-year-old also reacted to much worse downtime and more pain than she had imagined.
– I could not sleep on my chest for many months and it was very painful and tender. I also haven’t been able to do push-ups for over a year and a half and haven’t run normally for six months.
– No more fillers
Nordby says he didn’t understand how serious an operation like this was and that he wanted more information from the surgeon.
The 27-year-old says that after sharing the TikTok video, she received many messages from people who experienced the same thing.
– Many had no idea that something had happened and were not informed that it was a risk, he says, and adds:
– What I have experienced is not abnormal, so if you are considering breast surgery, keep that in mind. Maybe it’s just that I got older, but I probably wouldn’t have had that surgery today. There are better ways to do this, or to just live with your breasts as is, encourages in conclusion.
