Sony’s popular game Helldivers 2 has possibly already surpassed the 8 million copies sold mark since its release last month, a market analyst said.
According to TD Cowen analyst Doug Creutz, in a note released this week (via Bloomberg), this number is probably growing every week. “We believe the game has performed well above expectations,” he declared.
While Sony hasn’t released official sales figures for the co-op shooter, Helldivers 2 has consistently surpassed 430,000 concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB.

In the United Kingdom, Helldivers was the best-selling game in February, according to GSD data published on GamesIndustry.biz. Bucking the trend, the game distributed by Sony saw its sales grow every week after its launch on February 8th.

The PS5 version of Helldivers 2 accounted for 57% of its UK sales last month, with the remainder coming on PC.
The game’s success led to speculation that its developer, Stockholm-based Arrowhead Game Studio, could be acquired by PlayStation – something the studio denied.

After resolving the server issues that players have been experiencing since the game’s launch last month, CEO Johan Pilestedt recently stated that the studio can now focus its attention on improving the title and working on new content.
“Now we have time to dedicate ourselves to improving the game and returning to our original plan,” he said. “Lots of exciting things are coming.”
