Helldivers 2 on PC will soon require a PlayStation account

The creators of Helldivers 2 have announced that PC players will soon need to create a PlayStation account if they want to continue playing on Steam.

How given in the official announcement, new users will be required to connect their accounts from May 6, while existing democracy fighters will receive appropriate notification from May 30, with an end date set for June 4.

The developers explain in a statement posted on Steam that the previous lack of such a requirement was only due to “technical problems”, which have now been resolved – so the accounts should now be linked.

“Account linking plays a key role in protecting our players and maintaining security across PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games.” – we read in the justification. This is our main way of protecting players from grief and abuse, by allowing players to be banned who engage in this type of behavior. This also gives banned players the right to appeal.”

“We understand that while this may be an inconvenience to some of you, this step will help us continue to build the community you are all proud of.” – added.

As you can guess, not all players are happy with this turn of events. „Lol, time for a refund – wrote one of the fans in a comment posted on X. “There is a solution. Everyone should ask for a refund at the same time due to the inability to launch the game. – adds another person.

The Japanese corporation has not taken a similar approach in its previous releases on PC, but so far they have not been online shooters that require banning cheaters. Meanwhile, on May 16, Ghost of Tsushima will be released on Steam, which even introduces a special PlayStation “overlay”, also with the ability to connect accounts – although this is optional for now.
