Helldivers 2 is selling well, but is getting mixed reviews on Steam

Anti-cheat systems and weapons without upgrades put a damper on the freedom struggle.

Helldivers 2 was released yesterday, and judging by the sales, it seems to be going like the train at least on PC. On Steam the various versions of the game are currently in first and third place in terms of revenue, but the situation is worse with user reviews. At the time of writing, the rating is “mixed”, with 37% thumbs down from players.

Much of the criticism revolves around the game’s anti-cheat solution, Nprotect Gameguard, which for some sometimes prevents the game from starting and also has kernel access, which is a security and privacy concern for some. The developers have talked a little about this. There is also some talk about performance problems and crashes.

Looking at the game mechanics, there are a lot of complaints that the weapons cannot be upgraded, but are so good they will be immediately when you get them. You also have to grind a lot to get access to some cool weapons, unless you want to buy the game’s battle pass to access them faster.
