Controversy Over Removal from Steam in Several Countries

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) drew criticism earlier this year by mandating an active PlayStation Network (PSN) account for Helldivers 2 PC players, resulting in backlash and subsequent delistment from Steam in over 170 countries. Although SIE has abandoned this problematic requirement, the highly-anticipated shooter still remains inaccessible in certain regions.

Helldivers 2, a game developed by Arrowhead Studios, has recently disappeared from Steam in three additional countries, namely Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Disgruntled players in these regions now face the baffling situation of not being able to access the game, raising concerns over the future of Helldivers 2’s availability.

Arrowhead Studios in the Dark

Arrowhead Studios CEO, Johan Pilestedt, expressed surprise in response to this sudden change, claiming developers were entirely unaware of the ongoing situation. “Most devs were on a bank holiday and we just found out through the community. We want the game to be available worldwide,” stated Pilestedt through the game’s official Discord channel.

Unlocking Access for Players

Helldivers 2’s removal from Steam within the 170 previously restricted countries garnered immense criticism from players who felt excluded and aggrieved by the unavailability of the game. However, Pilestedt assured the community that efforts were ongoing to address this issue in collaboration with PlayStation and Valve. They are determined to reimplement the game worldwide and restore accessibility for all game enthusiasts.

Combatting Bots and Squishing Terminids

In recent game developments, players rejoiced upon the resolution of a bug that allowed for the defeat of 2 billion Terminids within 24 hours. This achievement was short-lived, as a new Major Order replacing Terminids with 2 billion bots emerged.
