The helicopter that crashed in Kyiv in mid-January flew too low during bad weather. Fourteen people were killed in the accident, including Ukrainian Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky.
Prosecutors conclude that all kinds of rules were violated during the flight. According to the Ukrainian authorities, this is evident from research. Several employees would not have complied with safety rules.
The helicopter would only be intended to respond to emergencies in and around Kyiv. There would have been no permit for other flights.
Moreover, the captain would not have been informed about the bad weather conditions on the route. The crew flew lower than the tallest buildings on the route due to the weather.
Relatives commemorate the Ukrainian Interior Minister at his funeral.
Three children and entire top of the ministry among victims
In addition to the interior minister, deputy minister Yevhen Yenin and state secretary Yuriy Lubkovich also died in an accident. This killed the entire top of the ministry.
Three children were also victims of the helicopter crash. The plane crashed near a daycare center.
The helicopter was on its way to a destination near the front in January. The plane crashed in the fog in the town of Brovary. According to the authorities, the pilot wanted to avoid an obstacle.
President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke of a “horrible tragedy” at the time.
