Singer Helena Vondráčková has recently completed work on her next studio album, which will be called Tvrdohlavá. It was created under the production supervision of musician and composer Karel Mařík. The launch of the recording is scheduled for September 9 at the ceremonial premiere of Dušan Rapoš’s film Female Revenge.
Vondráčková sang the song of the same name to him, which is also a bonus song of the album. Tomáš Kopečný informed ČTK about it for the singer.
“I suggested to Helena a more progressive, bolder, simply different concept of the album than her listeners are used to. People of her character are surprisingly open to new trends that move their music a step further. It only took a few minutes and it was clear that we were on the same note. “We have been in the production of the whole album since the writing of one song. Helena is a huge pro, with whom every musician and producer is challenged and happy to do,” said Mařík.
Producer and musician Mařík managed to establish himself on the world market last year when he authored the album Last Testament by the former Scottish frontman of Nazareth, Dan McCafferty. In the Czech Republic, he collaborated, for example, with Daniel Landa and Bára Basiková. As a producer, he also helps new faces, such as Kristýna Peterková or Valeria Tošerová.
“Cooperation with Karel Mařík was a journey into the unknown for me, I knew very little about him. After the first meeting with him, I knew that we would understand not only musically, but above all humanly. Just because neither of us like the music boxing “We believe that there is only one music. The whole recording took place as if in a family spirit. The young guitarist and sound engineer Tomáš Kryl, in whose cozy studio we recorded, also played a significant role,” said Vondráčková.
There are 14 songs on the new album Tvrdohlavá. In addition to Mařík, Václav Noid Bárta, Jan Krůta, Gabriela Osvaldová, Josef Peterka and Ondřej Soukup, for example, participated as authors. The song that gave the CD its name was composed by Vašo Patejdl. The film The Woman’s Revenge was written by Lešek Wronka and Petr Šiška. Vondráčková will also star in the comedy Women’s Revenge. “More important than my three sentences in the film is singing the title song,” she said.
Vondráčková, who celebrated her 73rd birthday on June 24, released her last album I have known for her time in 2017. Her first studio album was released in 1970 under the name Helena Vondráčková Island, where the Golden Kids Orchestra and choirs were sung by Marta Kubišová, who for political reasons it should not be indicated on the packaging. Last year in Berlin, Vondráčková received the Smago Award for her lifelong contribution to German popular music. Three years ago, she received a medal of Merit from President Miloš Zeman.
